Move here if you like high housing taxes and conge - 11/7/2018
I've lived here for over 10 years now and it is not at all what it used to be. The traffic is horrible now, the lights take forever and are programmed to slow traffic down, it is so over populated and they continue to add new businesses and stuff them into small parking lots making it difficult for all these over sized trucks and SUVs to fit. Bad planning they should have expanded the roads and planned better before building all of the houses just to make what used to be a nice relaxing suburb into an ant pile and a wanna be LA. In with the Californians out with the Texans. Y'all can have it... Oh and don't forget the HUGE tax Read More

Rockwall is truly a wonderful place to live - 6/29/2012
Looking for a beautiful, family friendly, low crime, affluent COMMUNITY? Look no further. From the Harbor on beautiful Lake Ray Hubbard to the farmer’s market to the beautiful parks and trails, Rockwall has everything. Only 23 miles from downtown Dallas, you get a family community feel with big city amenities. The worst thing about Rockwall is trying to decide where you want to eat! I love this place! Read More

Statistics don't represent Rockwall well - 5/16/2011
After reading the information on Rockwall, I think it deserves some persepctive. Rockwall and its outlying areas is very habitable for moderate income families who do not rely on public transportation or foot traffic to reach their destinations. If the median income is nearly $200K, then there are some seriously wealthy people who are throwing the curve. However, other outlying areas have homes in the $150K range, which is affordable on a $75K income, especially when the taxes in outlying areas are much more affordable. One requirement for the area is transportation by car, as there are few ways to safely get around by bike, and the distance rules out walking form place to place. The business and medical sections are growing by leaps and bounds every year (for the past ten years), which unfortunately means that construction slows traffic in town, but at least the traffic issues move from place to place as one project ends and another begins. As Rockwall grows, there are going to Read More

Considering a move to Rockwall - 8/15/2010
We are considering moving to Rockwall. We have a 3 year old daughter who was born in China. Does Rockwall offer some diversity, good schools, activities such as gymnastics, karate, etc and a good quality of life? How hot does it get in the summer? How long does to take to get to Dallas and also Garland?  Read More

About Rockwall - 10/5/2005
Rockwall is a nice place, that has grown significantly in a short time. Rockwall is the largest town, and Rockwall County is the smallest county in the state. I've also heard rumors that it has more millionaires per capita, than any other county in the state. Rockwall county is also home to Heath, Fate, and Royse City. Rockwall schools are highly desired, and miles ahead of Dallas. The taxes can be high, and it also depends on if you get a M.U.D. district in your neighborhood, as the county is having serious growing pains. The retail is growing like crazy, and there are most things you need in town. The traffic is horrible in the downtown area, so avoid that. There are nice, new public buildings like city hall. Rockwall also seems to have a strong police presence, as there are in many affluent areas. It's 23 miles to downtown Dallas, so not bad for those commuting, however 30 can be bad during rush hour. Basically, if you have a family that you want to expose to good schools, Read More
