Just don’t move here til you turn 65+ - 4/3/2021
I’ve been living here since 2016 after living in two metropolitan cities. Let’s start with good: Good is there is a variety of elementary schools for such a medium sized city. There is literally under 5 main roads throughout the city so it makes it impossible to get lost anywhere. This place offers decent public amenities like a park, pool at the YMCA, two hospitals, several dentist, etc. All the crime here is mostly drugs and theft so kids are usually safer here. That’s about it. The Bad: Drugs are insane here. From Meth to fake weed and xanax. They are everywhere and teens do them younger than I’ve ever seen before. Retail sucks BAD! Cost of living is extremely high with lack of entertainment. Thank the oilfield around you! The mall is outrageously outdated. Stores you either a. never heard of or b. have no trends at all. It’s such a random selection of retail. The interior is stuck in the late 90s and flat. Also in retail, this place has way more mattress stores than needed. If you Read More

A more up to date review - 3/5/2021
These reviews are very old so here's an update. I had my pick in south Texas to live and found this small city. My wife and I love it. It's in the middle of major cities, close to the ocean and housing is cheap. Everyone has been very nice and welcoming and we are very glad of the Read More

Inez over Victoria - 9/6/2012
Used to live in Victoria but raising a family there was terrible. We were secluded in our development but when the kids got out into public schools even at the low grade levels they run into some very undesirables. We moved out to Inez and enrolled our kids at industrial. The move made my commute 10minutes longer but has done wonders for our kids and my Read More

Industrial ISD - 9/6/2012
I live in Victoria but I transferred my kids into Industrial ISD. Great school district, better than most private school you would find in Texas. We are in the process of moving to Inez,TX so my kids live within the district and our commute is shorter. I know the people moving here for Caterpillar are going to want to send their kids to a good district. Tellin you, move into Inez or one of the smaller towns like La Salle and get your kids into this district you wont be Read More

One of the worst places to live - 10/23/2011
Have been living here for 3 years now and have never lived in a place where there are so many rude people. Every nice apartment complex you find is assisted living, so you are forced to live in the bad neighborhoods where you have to park your car right outside your door because of all the theirs in this town. This town is the place to live if you don't want to be able to find a full time job, a decent home in a neighborhood you won't get broken in to and high drug traffic. There are limited places to shop unless you want to drive 2-3 hours to go somewhere bigger. This place is not a place to raise a family. This town has nothing to do. High crime, high drug traffic, rude people, and ghetto. Read More

Changing City - 8/30/2011
I lived in Victoria from 1952 until June 1954. I finished the 3RD, 4TH and 5TH grades there. I drove thru there this past June while on vacation. Your Airport was an Air Force Base when I lived there. Hope to go back again for a visit. George L. Swanson Jr. I now live in beautiful San Diego, Read More

In response to "Joe's" veiw on Victoria Texas - 7/1/2009
Well "Joe", you get out of life what you put into it. I myself have been transplanted to the Victoria area for almost 28 years now, and I had some of the same views as you on the "southern" hospitality I expected, but over time and having been here long enough to make new freinds, this town is not much different that any other place in the US. This town has things to offer if you take time to look, but without all of the trappings of a larger city as far as traffic jams and crime. As far as the small town feel, Victoria seems to be going through growing pains there too. I feel that there aren't many things to draw people to this town as a place to visit or a tourist stop, but we are on the way to other larger cities, and less than two hours away from several major airports and the things that Victoria should and probably will have one day. Change is inevitable and coming to this town, but don't get your hopes up that it will be happening Read More

Texans Love Texas...but not Victoria - 3/2/2007
I took a job here, that I found on the internet. I always thought that Texans were just happy people, and proud to be from Texas. But that dosesn't mean anything good about Victoria.

People for the most part do not like it here. They find it too small and too boring.

It is growing, getting things like Best Buy and Olive Garden...basiclly turning into every other city in America.

But if you have a choice between Victoria, TX and someplace else...I'd take someplace Read More
