Some fun eats and pit stops but crime got worse - 10/28/2018
Convenient, close to everything, groceries are VERY expensive, close to the canyons , TONS of traffic, cute coffee shops, but unfortunately very poor law enforcement presence. Low income housing assistance programs have ruined several streets/neighborhoods that were up to a certain standard at one point. The further up you live, the safer it is. Read More

MOVING BECAUSE OF MUSLIMS - 7/2/2016
This was a beautiful area where I enjoyed taking evening walks and going to the store , area is made up of upper middle class families and rents start at $900---- we are now moving because they are settling so many Muslims here I no longer feel safe being stared at by big Syrian men in gold chains with their women wearing hijabs , unemployed and living next to our homes in high end apartments , getting free food and medical care. You want to see some scary looking guys ? Go to the Smiths in Millcreek/Murray on 45th....looks like a refugee center. Talk about bringing the value of an area down...call me a bigot if you want but I don't think these middle eastern guys checking out my friends 11 year old nieces is okay.... Read More

largish city with great skiing - 2/28/2013
Best things about the Salt Lake City area are the winter sports opportunities and summer camping, fishing, hiking. Also we have a lower than avg unemployment rate. Crime rate prob a little lower than avg for a city this size. A lot of sunshine except during winter months. Lots of cultural stuff to do/experience- live theater, concerts, galleries.
Negatives: air not very clean, esp in midwinter when we get periodic valley inversions. Pay levels arent good compared to some places, but house prices average or a little more. Property taxes arent bad though. It's colder than a lot of other cities in winter with a lot of snow.
I've enjoyed living here for more than 30 yrs but want to go somewhere a little warmer and sunnier with cleaner air when I retire in a few yrs. Minorities may feel very outnumbered here, it's about 90% white/anglo but that is Read More
