Greatest winters - 4/16/2009
Home to the 2002 Winter Olympics. Salt lake City does have the greatest snow on earth as our license plates read. I've lived here 3 years since 2006 and I averaged 100 days of snowboarding each season. The times I did not get to enjoy winter sports was due to injuries incurred on the Read More

Great Place For Non-Mormons Too - 8/12/2007
As a pastor of a local Christian church, I have lived in Sandy for 8 years. I love this place. It is a wonderful city to live in. Having lived in Portland, OR, Berkeley, CA, Tucson, AZ, and Houston, TX, I think Sandy is great. Don't let the other reviewers influence you too much. Just come to the base of the mountains in Sandy and find our for yourself how good it Read More

Agreed! If you are not of the Mormon faith, you a - 1/12/2007
I have lived in Utah for the last 20 years and my children were not allowed to play with other children because of their faith. Neighbors would not have anything to do with us because we did not attend their church. As far as employment, it almost impossible to find a job anywhere in the SL valley that does not have 90% mormon influence where all they talk about all day long is their "ward", 5-10 children, their church callings. It's as if they all are competing with each other to see who is the better Mormon. I have actually had the Mormon missionaries come to my home and threaten me that my children and husband would not go to heaven and we would not be together in front of y children. They were so upset and couldn't understand any of Read More

Don't even consider if you're not Mormon! - 12/7/2006
Don't even think about moving to the Vatican of the West unless you're a devout coffee-hating, tee-tolling Mormon. The people here TEACH their children to HATE YOURS. It is absolutely disgusting. They "seem" so "nice", but the niceness is the biggest act on the face of the earth. I've been here over 12 years and want out. Had enough with my kids being ostracized because they're NOT going to EVER be LDS. Think its bunk? Ask why there is a "seminary" built next door (usually seeming to be a campus building actually) to EVERY "PUBLIC" middle and high school. Your kids don't go to seminary? Guess they're not of the tribe and you're Read More

Beautiful all year... - 4/13/2006
Sandy, Utah, is a beautiful place to raise a family. Originally from Portland, Oregon, I moved here to escape the high cost of living and lack of employment. We have hot, dry summers and at times very cold winters. You see four seasons and aren't stuck in months of rain. Parks are abundant and well taken care of. While Utah is known for it's LDS population, it isn't oppresive as one would think. Many churches of different faiths are available. The Salt Lake region is a unique area. I am glad I moved Read More
