Putting in a Plug - 3/20/2006
This is the town where I currently live with my young family. I am not sure what is generally posted here, but since I was prompted to make a comment, I thought I'd say how pleasant this town is. I've particularly enjoyed living right in the heart of the downtown, where I can walk with my children to school in good weather, and also walk to the Post Office, local market/butcher's, summer ice-cream stand, summer farmer's market, movie theatre, shops and restaurants. Rents & property values here are still quite affordable. There are good pickings at the local thrift shops and antique stores.

The place used to be a boom town for industry - on the CT River, with one of the first canals constructed in the U.S. and some of the earliest bridges over the CT - plus a grand history of rail commerce.
