Everything You Need To Know About Danby, VT - 4/23/2018
I grew up in Danby, VT. Most of my ancestors did, as well. My parents still live there. Danby, VT is not a good place to live. It is very rural. Most of the roads in town are dirt. The roads are not very well maintained and full of ruts and potholes. Winter plowing is sketchy, at best. There are a few very wealthy locals that are transplanted retirees from NY and Conn. But, most of the residents are low income people just scraping by. You can drive along any of the dirt roads and find old crumbling trailers and ramshackle homes. It is easy to spot where the wealthy live...they generally don't have rusted out cars and trucks on their property. Property taxes are very high in Danby. Most people who own the not so nice places can't afford to fix them because they have to spend most of their income to afford the property taxes.
