Ashland Is by far the best place to live without Living In the city of richmond yes the housing is more but its safer and has THE BEST SCHOOL IN VA. My brother loves his school our neighborhood is safe police do their jobs and everything is soooo close. I moved here from Pa and I love Ashland I really would never move to Richmond as crime Is tooo high I have 2 kids and 1 on the way no better place then Ashland Read More

Great little stop along the travel route - 10/12/2008
Where to begin:
With a kid in college in this town I have access to all the good and bad opinions. Have you ever heard of Homemades By Suzanne? Great Deli for eat in or take out. Richmond people love to come up for that and for Ashland Coffee and Tea, a rustic coffee hangout for cyclers and students and profs. At night it comes alive with live music, often well known artists like John Hammond! Great coffee and quiche, btw. The Iron Horse Restaurant has very good food with both a casual area and formal dining. I've seen great jazz there while the train rattles the building every 15 minutes. Wonderful Liberal Arts College - 10/12/2008
Ashland is built around an excellent small liberal arts college, Randolph-Macon College. The school enjoys a great reputation with both Richmond and D.C. offering internships to their students.
