Great place to raise a family - 6/26/2007
I have lived in the Hickory and Great Bridge areas of Chesapeake for 18 years. It is a very family oriented town and I highly recommend it to people who want to protect their family from people like the other reviewer of this town. That person must have significant

Relocating - 4/30/2007
I am thinking on relocating from Minneapolis hopefully by the end of the summer. How’s the job market overall? I am also an African American woman and a single mom. Soooooo, how are the men and schools? I am originally from Louisiana, lived in ATL for 15 years. I do not like pretentious and rude and close-minded people and extreme weather regardless how good the job market is. We, (my 8 year daughter and I), just want to live in a warm comfortable environment. All Opinions are welcomed.
Thanks,
Sabrina

We miss Chesapeake! - 10/20/2006
My wife and I lived there for 5 years, and we loved it, and we hope to return in a few years (we are a military family). Great churches, good neighbors, probably one of the best places to live in the South (and definitely the best place to live in Hampton Roads). Summers are hot, and it an be quite humid in the summer (but not as hot as say, Texas or Oklahoma). South of the beltway has some of the better

Any good water skiing lakes? - 8/22/2006
We are looking to relocate to the Chesapeake/Virginia Beach area. Are there any lake communities (with somewhat reasonable prices) that it is possible to live on and have a motor boat for skiing, tubing, etc.?

Any info please - 7/29/2006
My husband and I are seriously considering a move to the Newport News area. I am wondering if Chesapeake is too far of a commute. We currently live outside of Detroit and we need to get out. The job market is terrible. I have read comments about the areas around Newport and its seems Chesapeake has the best reputation from everyone's comments on this site. Is rent expensive in Chesapeake? I have seen several homes for rent in the 1800-2400 range and that is out of my league. Any info is appreicated.

I thought it was a great area - 7/26/2006
I visited Chesapeake and the Virginia Beach area for the fist time this month, and I really liked it. It is a very cute area with lots of neat stores and things to do. The people were much nicer there than they are in the East, people say "Sir" and "Ma'am", "excuse me" and have manners that are tough to find some places. The whole week I was there I only saw 1 guy act like a jackass, screaming and cursing at someone for being in his way in a parking lot, and he was from out of state anyway. As for the weather, it does get pretty hot and DARN humid, the humidity being the one main thing I could live without. All in all, a neat area that I could settle in, which is saying a lot since I have never liked any other part of Virginia, and I have lived in
