Do NOT move here... - 3/31/2010
Well...let me make this brief if possible. I moved here to this county a couple of years ago, never really had any health problems before...now I do. I am a native Floridian who moved to SW Virginia and now have suffered 5 - YES 5 - respiratory infections since moving here. Cleveland, VA sits just above a coal-fired power plant with 1950's technology running it, and no mandated carbon sequestering. This plant feeds power to central Ohio while endangering the community that surrounds it. The economy is so bad here that even the (only) bank in town will be closing its doors as of 6/2010. The public school system spends $1000+ less per child in this county than the national average, which is bad enough.
