Stay away do not live here! - 7/21/2022
This place is the worst. The roads are in terrible condition. Always debris on the highway, side roads, and main roads. I've had replaced 3 tires so far this year alone 400 dollars a piece. Property tax on vehicles here is outrageous. I had a hit and run happen to me last year and the police have done nothing. No follow up nothing. You would think with the 1000 plus dollars I pay twice a year in vehicle property tax the roads and public service would be better. Stay Read More

Racist and ghetto - 5/13/2021
Having been deployed all over the world and stationed in the U.S. coast to coast I can honestly say this is the most ghetto place I have ever been...and that includes Djibouti Africa (if you have been there...that's saying something). If you want to witness racism at its finest, come here. I have spent my whole life slightly resenting being white...mainly because of police brutality, history, and the fact that white racists exist. However, I know now that racism goes both ways, and I have experienced more black racists here than I have white racists through the world. My 9 yo daughter has been called white bitch by grown adults. She has also been beat up by boys older than her for being white. Its gotten to the point to where I installed security cameras in my car port and car so I can keep an eye on her when I have to go inside. One day I witnessed a boy punch her in the back of the head and when I ran outside he sprinted away. 1 hour later half Read More

Hampton, full of history and lots to do and see - 9/20/2018
We live in Downtown Hampton within walking distance of the Langley Air and Space Museum, Hampton Carousel, the Hampton History Museum and tons of shops and restraunts. We have taken the short 10 minute car trips to Buckroe Beach and Fort Monroe and enjoy spending time at both. Our home and neighborhood are historic and full of beautiful well cared for homes. We love our little slice of Hampton.

We have had the opportunity, on many occassions to spend time in other parts of the city, and find there to be great shopping and fun things to do. You can find everything you need from groceries, books, movies, and electronics on Mercury Blvd. down by the Hampton Coliseum. They have all the stores and dining you could want in Peninsula Town Center and over on Power Plant Parkway.

Just like any city there are neighborhoods with homes in disrepair or with a higher crime rate, but we have yet to meet anyone that we would consider to be dangerous in person. If Read More

Meh, probably not. - 12/31/2017
I was a visitor in Hampton for 2 months. I was really impressed with the Scuppernong grapes - they are super in cooking and to eat fresh!!

That, however, when balanced against the rampant bigotry and hatred couched as Christian values, it makes me want to never return to that land of brain-washed superstitious religious Read More

closed-minded bashing of Hampton - 7/5/2015
I have heard every good and bad thing there is to hear about hampton, and can honestly say it outrages me that so many closed minded people find a city of over 100,000 small and not bursting with opportunity when it is at the heart of the Chesapeake Bay. Hampton is Ghetto? Sure if one teeny part of a giant city is means for you to classify an entire city as ghetto than sure but my entire time living in Hampton I've been able to forget to lock my door or my car and not even bat an eyelash. So my opinion on the people who bash an entire city they want to get out of so bad, its because it simply reminds them of the failure they constantly made due to no fault but their own in this town. Hampton is a beautiful town to raise a family with teachers and businesses that care. Amazing food downtown on the water and a smile at every Read More

Hampton is GHETTO - 1/12/2012
I was born here almost 40 years ago and I can honestly say that Hampton is NOW very Ghetto. Funny thing is though is that they are trying to build high dollar homes in the ghetto. NO ONE will buy them. I am only still here to take care of family because as soon as the economy gets better I'm selling and moving far away. The only reason why Hampton's crime rate is not crazy high is because you dont crap where you Read More

Hrbt - 10/6/2011
The Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel AKA,(HRBT)is like the brain of all the traffic in VA. As a matter fact, all the tunnels are like the brain and when the brain stop functioning you know what happen then....well, traffic in VA is a bummer. It's between a broke down, no gas, or an accident that always have traffic backed up for miles. Read More

hampton living - 8/16/2011
lol i love how first comment is making the guy out to be a racist. its not racism if its accurate and at some point everyone is a racist, if you say you arent then youre lying. sterotypes are deserved for the most part in every group they are applied to. i have lived in hampton most of my life and there
ARE exceptions but for the most part crime is rampant, teen violence is high, high rape statistics and rude people. yes its cheaper but to what cost? i live in a shabby room above a strip joint and i constantly have a death grip on my pepper spray the buses are highly unre;iable, always late and the bus drivers lie about the stops and are generally rude. have at me call me racist but i live in constant fear when the sun goes down because i kow what its like i used to live in a neighborhood adjacent to ms13 Read More

Things to do - 4/10/2011
Hampton is one of the seven cities that make of Hampton Roads and is considered "The All-American City." Hampton it very diverse and has many activities and is very cultural. It has just celebrated it's 450th year! There is so much history here, so if that is your interest you will be right at home. We are also surrounded by water, so boating and fishing are very big. Read More
