What BestPlaces Users Say about Manassas

Manassas is a historic city located in Virginia, known for its rich history and small-town charm. With a population of over 42,000, it offers a diverse community and plenty of outdoor activities, making it an attractive place to live. However, like any other city, it has its pros and cons. To gain a better understanding of what it's like to live in Manassas, I have gathered user reviews from Best Places, a website that provides insights and reviews from people who have lived or are currently living in this area.

According to James C., who has lived in Manassas for over 10 years, "Living in this city has been a wonderful experience. The community is friendly, and there are plenty of family-friendly activities to do. Plus, the schools here are top-notch." Similarly, Sarah P. shares, "I have lived in Manassas for almost 5 years now, and I absolutely love it. The downtown area is charming, and there are several parks and trails nearby for outdoor enthusiasts." These reviews highlight the welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere of the city, along with its abundant recreational opportunities.

However, not all reviews are positive. David R. expresses his dissatisfaction with the city's cost of living, stating, "Manassas is becoming increasingly expensive to live in. The housing prices are high, and so are the property taxes." Another user, Mary D., adds, "The traffic here is unbearable during rush hour. It can take over an hour to commute to work, which is frustrating." These reviews shed light on the drawbacks of living in Manassas, such as high living costs and heavy traffic.

In conclusion, Manassas seems to be a desirable place to live, with its friendly community, beautiful outdoor spaces, and excellent schools. However, it may not be the most affordable or convenient option for everyone. It's always essential to research and consider all aspects before making a decision to move to a new place. These user reviews provide valuable insights and perspectives that can help individuals determine if Manassas is the right fit for them.

Manassas vs Fairfax County - 9/7/2015
Hi all:
Looking for some insider info. I am from Boston. My husband was transferred down to Herndon, VA, and my son is going to George Mason University, so we are heading down to VA. Actually, my husband is already renting a house in Manassas on the Occoquan Resevoir, and would love to stay in Manassas where you get huge houses for the money. Our realtor and on the surface, I hear stay away from Manassas. Lower level of living-higher crime, immigrant community, schools bad--or lower than Fairfax county that has some of the best schools in the country. Any feedback welcome, as I am totally clueless! We have gone out in Old Town Manassas and love it. Also, we will probably be moving once my son graduates in aobut 4 years, so don't want to be stuck not being able to get out when needed. WE notice many houses drop their asking prices considerably, or are taken off altogether. Husband, very OK with this--as he likes big, different, homes. I'm more practical--THANKS!Read More

History and All American City - 7/6/2014
I live in a subdivision outside the City of Manassas (the Sudley Subdivision) a couple of miles from the Manassas Battlefield National Park. I love the history of the area and the proximity to the more rural countryside. The City has some Norman Rockwell appeal with the Parades during national Holidays (Independence, Memorial, Veterans and Labor day, the lights in Bull Run Park at Christmas. I am a motorcyclist and enjoy riding out into the country side that is not far away. it is also about an hour from the sights and culture of Washington Read More

I have lived in Manassas City for approximately 25 years now and in the overall area since 1973 and I can't wait to leave here. There are so many issues that I don't know where to start. First off is the cultural change. Manassas has basically become little Mexico, or Salvador or pick any Hispanic country you'd like. Many are good law abiding citizens and are good neighbors. But way too many are here illegally and many make no effort to learn the English language and improve themselves. The problems caused by them would take all day. Secondly is the traffic. The entire DC region sucks when it comes to traffic. Way too much money will need to be spent and attitudes will need to change before it can be fixed.
Thirdly is the cost of living. Even though home prices has taken a nose dive along with most of the country it's still costly to live here. Once the economy recovers I imagine the home prices will as well.
Manassas has a decent amount of Cultural things but Read More
