What BestPlaces Users Say about Manassas

Manassas is a historic city located in Virginia, known for its rich history and small-town charm. With a population of over 42,000, it offers a diverse community and plenty of outdoor activities, making it an attractive place to live. However, like any other city, it has its pros and cons. To gain a better understanding of what it's like to live in Manassas, I have gathered user reviews from Best Places, a website that provides insights and reviews from people who have lived or are currently living in this area.

According to James C., who has lived in Manassas for over 10 years, "Living in this city has been a wonderful experience. The community is friendly, and there are plenty of family-friendly activities to do. Plus, the schools here are top-notch." Similarly, Sarah P. shares, "I have lived in Manassas for almost 5 years now, and I absolutely love it. The downtown area is charming, and there are several parks and trails nearby for outdoor enthusiasts." These reviews highlight the welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere of the city, along with its abundant recreational opportunities.

However, not all reviews are positive. David R. expresses his dissatisfaction with the city's cost of living, stating, "Manassas is becoming increasingly expensive to live in. The housing prices are high, and so are the property taxes." Another user, Mary D., adds, "The traffic here is unbearable during rush hour. It can take over an hour to commute to work, which is frustrating." These reviews shed light on the drawbacks of living in Manassas, such as high living costs and heavy traffic.

In conclusion, Manassas seems to be a desirable place to live, with its friendly community, beautiful outdoor spaces, and excellent schools. However, it may not be the most affordable or convenient option for everyone. It's always essential to research and consider all aspects before making a decision to move to a new place. These user reviews provide valuable insights and perspectives that can help individuals determine if Manassas is the right fit for them.

Living in Manassas - 10/23/2007
Living on the edge of the Manassas Battlefield is fun. As an amateur history buff there are a number of historical sites worth visiting. Bull Run National Park provides plenty of open space to envision one of the First Battlefields of the Civil War. Old town Manassas preserves a feel of small town America. We are also close to the new Smithsonian Air and Space Museum close to Dulles Airport which is a gem. Proximity to Washington, DC (an hour away on a good traffic day) is a plus.

The major problem here is traffic. Even though we are 40 miles from Washington, DC, traffic problems dominate the area. There will never be enough roads to support the population and mass transportation has hardly made a Read More

Manassas, a.k.a Little Mexico - 4/20/2007
If you do not care about illegal immigration, MAnassas is the place for you. I din't care about immigration before I moved here. But now that I have been here fore almost 2 years, I am ready to move because the Hispanics are ruining this area. The gangs, the filth, the noise. This entire area feels like Little Mexico. They ride around in their spinner-laced, Latin flag-bearing Escalades (how in the hell can they afford Escalades? Because the 20 people living with them help to make the payments.) and they put on their right turn signals to make left turns. They completely disregard the turning lane. Manassas is now a hole thanks to the Read More

Commuting Mecca - 12/29/2006
Manassas is in Northern Virginia about 23 miles West of the Washington, DC beltway. A large part of the population commutes to the DC area. Carpools, commuter rail, and bus service is ample. Traffic to and from DC is about as bad as traffic gets anywhere in the US.

The town government is concerned about the growing illegal immigrant population that is causing overcrowding neighborhood housing and thus unsafe living Read More

Greatplace to live - lousy place to commute - 4/14/2006
Manassas has the conveniences of the city with the feel of a smaller community. But commuting from here "into the city" is a nightmare. I work in Alexandria and have adjusted my schedule so that I am not driving during what most people consider the "rush." It still takes three hours to drive the 70 mile round trip from my home to my office and I'm taking the "back roads" that are less congested. If I drive I-66 to the 495/Beltway to Alexandria and back, the commute is four hours plus, Read More
