Life in Everett - 4/19/2006
I am frustrated with life in Everett - the rainy, cold winter seems endless; heavy traffic, lack of a well-designed downtown core, ... just a few of the things I Read More

Everett is fine if... - 2/5/2006
I live just 10 minutes south of Everett in Lynnwood. Everett is fine if you dont know any better and have never been anywhere. Not to be disrespectful to the people who love it here, but we get 229 cloudy days, 79 days of partially cloudy and a whopping 57 clear days. Oh did I mention the 160 days of precipitation? We dont get all that much rain, its just that it drizzles ALL of the time. The person living in Everett isnt running into traffic because they arent leaving town. The freeway STOPS on I5 from about hwy 405 to hwy 2 and it crawls. The traffic in the Seattle area is some of the worst. And God forbid it should rain, because traffic comes to a standstill! Like its new to them or something. Lord, I cant wait to get out of this wet climate. The housing market here is inflated and I am going to make a bundle on my house. Thats the only good thing I can say about it. I have lived in Washington, Oregon, Oklahoma, Indiana and San Diego. This area has been the worst for Read More

Biggest little city in Washington - 2/2/2006
It might not be as trendy as its neighbor to the south, Seattle, but Everett residents get perks that posh Seattle-ites might miss out on. For one, the lack of traffic congestion threatening to swallow you alive. You can actually get from point A to point B without wasting half your day. Another noteworthy perk -- the view. True, Everett can't boast giant skyscrapers or enormous sports stadiums. But mountains in your backyard and the Puget Sound lapping against the coast only feet away aren't exactly things to ignore. People are friendly and genuine and there are plenty of things to do, both outdoors and in. Oh, and you can also actually afford to live here -- always a good Read More

Rain, anyone? - 1/5/2006
Overall, not a real bad place, but, like nearby Seattle, you will get more than average rainfall every year. It is yet another example of "give and take". In California, they get "luxury" (sunshine) tax and pay thru the nose for everything. Since we see fewer days of sun, the cost of living here is cheaper. It's also cheaper in the Southeast, if you can stand the very high humidity (i.e Georgia, South Carolina, etc.). The wages are lower, too. Sure, there's scenic beauty here - but it comes at a price of many days of rain. Seattle is the heroin/suicide capitol of the world - the weather is mostly to blame (although the grunge rock is cool). While the summers are nice here, the rest of the time sucks. May thru Semptember is o.k. Truth be told, I'd give anything to be able to afford to move to Southern California, in between L.A. and San Diego. I'm originally from Cali and would love to retire Read More
