Why You Gonna Lie? - 7/2/2006
Let me repeat my title, Why you gonna lie, seriously?! I just moved here from Indiana two months ago, not far from the previous post about Tennessee. Seattle is a haven for artists, liberals, free thinkers, fun lovers and flat out hippies--rich ones! We have Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing and many other fantastic companies that pump money into our economy.
I have never felt so at home since I moved here. Yes my 'twang' has been commented on and we've laughed about it. If you're conservative and not comfortable with diversity then you may not fit in well here--and I mean diversity--as people of every belief system, fashion sense, not to mention ethnicity and orientation live here. I think to live and love here requires a live and let live outlook, an acceptance of everyone (twang is included), an ability to carry on an intelligent conversation and a love and respect of nature.
To the people that say it rains all the time, I appreciate you spreading that

Seattle - it really IS nice here - 6/29/2006
To all the posters looking for someone to tell you what's nice about Seattle, there's a lot to tell you.
I have lived in many cities all over the world, but was born and raised right here. It's true, we do have a lot of grey skies, but it just makes you appreciate the beauty of Summer and Fall so much more.
I love the area because there are 4 distinct seasons. Yes, some are longer than others, but we've got them all. And for each season, we have the activities you'd expect for them. We've got the skiing, the great outdoors for hiking and camping, wine country for tastings, great golfing (Newcastle Golf Course is likely the best in the region), sailing & plenty of water sports, etc. Fall is my favorite season. It's warm and sunny, but not too hot.
Some may argue that the California Bay area has everything that we have here and more. It is much bigger there, but they lack the nature we have here. We still have beautiful lakes & rivers

BEWARE: Don't move to Seattle if you are from the - 6/21/2006
Recently moved to Seattle from Memphis. It is beautiful here (at least one day a week when you can see the mountains), but I cannot stand the constancy of the blah grey skies. Especially when you're used to the sun from time to time. And the people! Quite depressing. I'd say 95% of the people I've encountered here look at me like I am from the moon when they hear my southern accent. Apparently everyone has seen too many cliche movies of southern rednecks, therefore I certainly MUST be an idiot, and probably live in a trailer, too. After I receive stares from people who look at me like I am in the zoo, some venture out of their cool shell exteriors enough to inquire about the origin of the southern twang. "Memphis? Wow, the east coast!" (!!!???) OR "Isn't it really hot down there?" with looks of horror on their faces. TRUST ME Southerners -- Think long & hard before you move up here. Then think

Looking for local relocation information - 6/13/2006
I am looking to relocate to the Seattle area from the Southern US. I would like some local input on the best area(s)in which to live. I'm single, so school systems and such are not big priorities at this time in my life. I want to be relatively close to all the city has to offer though. I would have no objection to living outside of Seattle as long as a smooth commute would be possible.
Comments/advise on this topic or any other that might help my relocation go smoothly are greatly

Do you wan to just hear what you want to hear, or - 6/6/2006
Do you want the Truth or do you just want to hear what you want to hear? Saying something 'good' even though it's not True is a wasteful. If Seattle happens to be a crappy town, then so be it. Then it can change, when people finally stop being in denial about it and being so defensive. Ya know, that could be why it remains to be a crappy town, 'cause nobody wants to open up and let thier city be 'operated on'. So the cancer gets worse. And denying that a semi truck is headed your way, isn't going to make it go away. This is something dumb Seattlites can't seem to understand. Intellectual, yes. INTELLIGENT? No. There's a world of differnce you Seattelites with the lites out. (and yes I am aware that is not the correct spelling for 'lights' so don't analize that and miss the big point hear. That just shows what I'm talking

Something nice about Seattle- well, as best as I c - 5/24/2006
I have lived all over Washington state. I have visited just about EVERY town, city, and junction in it as well. I have my favorites- Spokane being my favorite city. And I have my dislikes- I dont like Tacoma. I find Seattle is in the middle. I traveling through there, but as a true Washingtonian, you have to sometimes. Traffic stinks. But I hear it isn't as bad as some places. The people there aren't always the friendliest. But you manage. I could go on and on about the dislikes and the problems Seattle has. But I wont. I will say, that they have some of the best day adventures! Where else can you go see the Pacific Science Center? I have been there twice, and it just keeps getting neater! Where else has some of the best coffee shops on every block? Hate it or love it- Starbucks is there- on every block!! You have the EMP, Pike Place market, Seattle Aquarium, and so much more.
The one thing about Seattle I do like is the fact that you can live somewhere like

Lacking in entertainment - 5/24/2006
I've grown up in the Seattle area and while yes, it's beautiful and green, it does lack in coming up with different and interesting things to do in comparison to other U.S. cities. Yes, plenty of skiing, hiking, and some good drives - but when it's Saturday night and you're past the bar/club phase, there's not much going on. Just something I've continuously heard from people around
