We will never return to Seattle - 1/30/2019
We recently visited the once beautiful, safe city of Seattle and was appalled of how it had become a dangerous garbage dump. There were homeless people everywhere verbally harassing us as we walked, alcoholics vomiting on the sidewalks, and human feces to dodge as we walked. We will never return to that vial City again.

Seattle, the "Emerald" (or moss covered) City - 12/31/2018
Lived here 20 years. I won't bore you, but the weather stinks. I will be leaving after my youngest graduates HS in 2020. Both kids have no intention of staying. We live just east of Redmond. Weather sucks most of the year, say like 9 months: rainy, cloudy, muddy. If you like mud, this is your place. Folks here in our town are fairly nice, but forget Seattle. In fact, I would say Washatonians are generally cold. There really isn't much to do besides hiking trails clogged with a million other hikers, skiing packed slopes that get fair to midland snow, and markets and fairs. Fishing and hunting? Forget that, too. They will charge you an arm and a leg, but is so poorly managed. Rivers are closed to fishing all the time. (Unless you are a native Am, then you get free range and are not impacted by Fish and Game laws. Net the rivers? Sure, why not.)
I really don't get the excitement over this state. I think, "Great, move here!" There the rest of the country won't be

LOVE IT!!! - 12/15/2018
The once sleepy city from 50 years ago is no more. Long gone are the days when the company founded by William Boeing was the only major employer. Now, within a 15 mile radius, we have the headquarters of Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks, Costco, T-Mobile, and thousands more serving aerospace and technology. So the highly educated moved in from all over the world (literally). Today Seattle is very international. With high paying jobs came high real estate prices. Traffic is a mess, but public transit is fantastic for US standards (mediocre for International standards). There are green spaces galore, and a ton of respect for them. 3 National Parks within a 2.5 hour radius. Above average schools, great arts and world class restaurants.
Sure, winters are gray; but summers are glorious. If you don't like the outdoors; here you will only complain about the rain. But if you like the outdoors, this is heaven. Water sports, skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking. Plenty of trailheads on I-90, only

There's no place like home - 8/18/2018
I've lived in Seattle full time for 17 years and love it more as time passes. For me I love my neighborhood (and several other neighborhoods) and my community. The city at large has its ups and downs but I never tire of the beauty, the creativity, and the people. I love the proximity to nature and so many other wonderful towns and cities. There is so much to do.
The growing pains have been challenging for sure. We are at the beginning of a 5 year period referred to as "Maximum Constraint" where traffic will be incredibly challenging while a number of massive projects are completed. Our city council has not effectively addressed the homelessness and has demonstrated disappointing leadership in a number of ways. Housing is pricey but the MHA 1 program should start bringing real relief in the area of median income and affordable housing.
All of this to say, I know it is far from perfect, but I love this place and want to be a part of the exciting solutions in

Glad I at least checked it out - 4/8/2018
In 1990, I visited Seattle for the first time and I fell in love with it. Seattle was a different town back then as I have quickly figured out being here now for the past 6 months. I am in my late 40s and I'm a techie. Finding a tech job here was pretty easy if you got skills, but don't expect 6 figures right off the bat for sure unless you code.
OK, I always try to leave as unbiased of an opinion as I can when I post on these sites. I have lived in several different cities in my years and so far here are my observations:
1. Traffic and commute is absolutely miserable. I live on the east side of Lynnwood, north of town, and my commute to Fremont can range anywhere from an hour to an hour-and-thirty depending on the day, the weather, the number of car crashes. It's almost impossible to plan your commute sometimes because it can change at the drop of a hat. Roads were not built to handle the influx of all the other migrants coming to town looking for a sweet

Love Seattle. - 3/21/2018
I've been to many cities, large, small and in between and Seattle tops the list in my book. Big, but not too big. One of my favorite places. You get it all with Seattle, the Ocean, the Mountains and a vibrant, progressive urban area.

Be cautious before moving here - 3/8/2018
Like most of the W coast, this is a big-time liberal mecca. If you are a conservative, you need to heed this advice and re-think your decision to move here. We have lived in several different areas of the country. We had no idea how unpleasant it would be living here because of the politics. You don’t dare put any kind of conservative sticker on your car. We tried that when we first moved here—the sticker was ripped off our car, torn into little pieces, and thrown on top of our trunk. So much for free speech. You’d better not even open your mouth about your conservative views here. We were harassed and continue to be in our workplaces as others learn we are not liberals. We do not even engage with others in talking about the subject, but somehow they find out.
After four years, we have had enough. We plan to go back to the Midwest soon.
You’d better already have a job when you move here. Trying to get one once you move is difficult unless you already know

Intolerant hateful communists here - 2/15/2018
This place is bad. When I first got stationed here, we was warned having DOD stickers on our car could get our windows broken out. People attack the military. People attack anybody with any right wing opinion. This place has went so far left, you cannot hold a conversation with somebody for more then two minutes before they start trying to talk liberal vomit and complain about the President. If you're some brainwashed super anti America liberal, who hates anybody thinking differently then you do. Then this place is great. If you're any form of a normal human being, stay away from Seattle.

Not for everyone - 9/17/2017
I was born in Seattle and have lived here continuously for 57 years.
During that time, I've known probably ten families with children and assets who have read all the stories about how 'livable' Seattle is, seen the pretty pictures (which are taken during the four occasionally-sunny months of the year) and have moved here from their sunny homes in Arizona, New Mexico, Georgia, etc. , bought a home and have lasted about four years before they moved back to where they came from. They all made the mistake of thinking they could adapt to the climate here. Some people can, MANY can't. You see, the issue is not in the statistics of inches of rainfall per year. On that, Seattle is actually not very impressive at all. The rain here doesn't come in a torrential deluge, it comes in an irritating cold drizzle over the course of months, accompanied by depressing gray skies....and the gray skies are here most of the year, even when it's not raining. So, people frequently become
