Nothing could be more perfect - 1/26/2020
I've lived in Washington State/Pacific Northwest for most of my life and never thought there could be any place more beautiful then Montana, Idaho and Washington until I visited West Virginia. My soon to be husband was raised in Hinton, WV and with the mountains, rivers, nature and history and small town living with southern hospitality and charm nothing can be more perfect. Hidden gem with amazing people and potential - 12/12/2012
My husband and I both work for large IT companies and have done our time in the silicone valley and then more recently Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina. We moved to Southern WV this summer to be nearer family and because we both love the mountains and never felt like we had enough "unplugged" time trapped in either city. We love it here and the cost of living is so much less than either NC or CA that we feel like we've gotten raises.
My colleagues laughed at me at first but now they are all commenting on the pictures of the amazing view from our back deck and how great the daily hikes through the woods in our back yard have done wonders for my stress management skills and are asking me to send them information on the communities. I think the future of West Virginia is not coal, but the development of infrastructure to support the internet of everything and the kind of mobile workforce of the tech sector.
