Florence, WI is a small town located in the north of Wisconsin, situated near Lake Superior and the Michigan border. Despite its small size, Florence has much to offer visitors and locals alike. The town also offers many attractions like the Stannard Rock Lighthouse Museum which is a historical landmark and a great place to learn about the history of Florence's maritime past. Additionally, Florence is home to several local restaurants that offer delicious dishes featuring locally sourced ingredients from Wisconsin farms. Your average small Wi town, not much local employment unless you are a professional from elsewhere, crime rates low you can leave your doors unlocked at night. The school system is slighty above average wich is in current turmoil because of declinging enrollment due to demographic shifts and aging population. Most of the tax base is derived from vacation homes in the spread eagle lake chain region of florence which is the prefered region of florence county to live in if you can afford it. Almost all services and shopping are in Iron Mtn Mi which is 5 minutes away including access to a very good regional hospital DCMH. I would rate it an excellant place to retire because of this and low cost of living Read More
