Newcastle is a nice small town. It is situated on the west-central foothills of the Black Hills, and is located about an hour from major Black Hills attractions including Mt. Rushmore and Devils Tower.
With a population of around 3300, it boast many amenities of a larger town, but still has the feel of a small town. It has two grocery stores, two banks, a Pamida (kind of like a Wal-Mart, but smaller), three auto parts stores, 11 restuarants, nine motels, six bars, two liquor stores, two RV parks, four city parks, a movie theater, four gas stations, a hospital, clinic, mental health clinc,a weekly newspaper, and many various stores on Main Street including a dry cleaners, health food market, computer sales and service, gift shops, hardware stores, second-hand stores, book stores, and antique stores.
