Being close to New York City makes the cultural activities of the city readily available, plus there are many excellent regional theaters.
The Jersey Shore is there for the beach and water lovers, and there are parks and mountains nearby for those who want to hike and

Great place to live if you have a lot of money - 8/3/2006
I have lived in New Jersey almost all of my life and, despite all the jokes to the contrary, it is actually a great place to live. However, the cost of living is out of control, largely due to the home rule system of government which results in government services being duplicated in every town. I have enjoyed living here, but plan to leave when I

Cost of Living in NJ is WAY OUT OF CONTROL! - 5/5/2006
The cost of living in NJ is CRIMINAL!!! NJ has the highest property taxes, auto insurance premiums and medical insurance premiums in the NATION. NJ is also the most corrupt state - all the politicians are crooked. For this high cost of living, you get to live in the #5 state with the dirtiest air. I have lived in NJ most of my life and am disgusted and saddened by what it has become. The employers in NJ do pay nearly enough to allow you to keep up with the cost of living so most people have 2 or more jobs. The only good thing about NJ is that it's near NYC, Upstate NY and PA....that's it! I cannot get out of here quickly enough! The cost of living is drowning most of

Christ Centered Church Families - 4/22/2006
New Jersey may not be the best place to live if your making under 70 grand. However, one of the the things I have learned while living in this state the past ten years is the potential, hardships create for bringing folk together. I attend a start up church called Morning Star for the Greater Philadelphia area and it is instrumental in proving to me how great God's faithfullness to His people is. Many of the christian's in this state are keanly aware of the struggle Jersey Heads go through and will make it a point to remember the words of Paul in "bearing one anothers burdens." The support and frankly, love that comes out of believers here is essential to me. It makes all the difference between just getting by and

Getting Squeezed in NJ - 4/19/2006
I love NJ, and the shore is great.
But it has become too expensive to live here anymore. Due to the high costs of real estate taxes, & car insurance, just to name a couple,NJ is squeezing out all the long term NJerseyites.
The new housing that is being built here is 400K's-to the millions, I don't really know how people can afford those high mortgages.
Good luck, I'm looking for a less expensive place to

Forcing us out - 4/15/2006
Love my house, love my neighboorhood. We own our own business. Between the property taxes and the insurances required for the business, we are leaving New Jersey. Looking for lower cost of living, also both of us will need jobs. Considering North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, possibly eastern PA, Atlanta GA area. I'd love Florida but too hot for my other half. Would love more info. on affordable/nice areas of Delaware so I could still be in driving distance of the rest of our families in
