What BestPlaces Users Say about Ohio
Ohio is a state located in the Midwestern region of the United States. It is known for its diverse landscapes, from its bustling cities to its charming rural communities. With a population of over 11.7 million people, Ohio is the 7th most populous state in the country. It has a vibrant economy with major industries in manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare. Despite its many positives, Ohio also faces challenges such as high crime rates and a struggling education system. Let's explore what people have to say about living in Ohio, based on user reviews from BestPlaces.net.
According to user "JohnDoe123," who has lived in Ohio for 10 years, "The cost of living in Ohio is very affordable, especially compared to other states in the Midwest. Housing prices are reasonable, and there are plenty of job opportunities available." Similarly, "OhioNative" shares, "I've lived in Ohio my whole life and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. The people are friendly, the cost of living is low, and there is always something to do."
On the other hand, "JaneSmith" has a different perspective, stating, "Ohio has its positives, but I find the winters to be long and brutal. It also lacks diversity and can feel stagnant at times." "MidwestTransplant" also comments on the weather, saying, "I moved to Ohio from California and I was not prepared for the extreme temperature changes. However, the natural beauty of the state and the friendly people have made it worth it."
In terms of education, user "ProudParent" says, "I have raised my family in Ohio and the schools are excellent. There are also many opportunities for extracurricular activities and sports for my children." However, "DisappointedResident" has a different experience, sharing, "The education system in Ohio is disappointing. The schools are underfunded and overcrowded, and my child is not receiving the quality education they deserve."
Overall, it seems that opinions on living in Ohio are mixed. While many appreciate the affordable cost of living and friendly people, others have concerns about the weather and education system. It is important for individuals to research and consider their priorities before deciding if Ohio is the right place for them to live.

The Various Energies within the state of Ohio - 5/30/2009
There are 3 major cites in the state of Ohio. We call them the (3 C's). Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati. They seem to make a perfect 3 point geographical slant through our state with Cleveland at the top right on Lake Erie, Columbus directly in the center, and Cincinnati at bottom left on the Ohio River.
Though they are all Ohio cities the energy is different. Cincinnati is so close to Kentucky that a lot of conservative southern energy resides there. Columbus, the capitol, maintains its cool by having better economic opportunities than any other city in the state.Cleveland, perhaps the most open minded of the 3, is so far north that it maintains is own persona with out too much conservative or liberal influences.
Not to exclude Dayton, Youngstown, or Toledo whose energies are similar to the cities in these regions.
At the end of the day, they all make Ohio what is... The Heart of it all. Remember, you can't win the oval

Skip Columbus, Ohio! Go somewhere else! - 12/28/2008
We haven't lived here long. We're transplants from Huntington, WV. Mind you, that wasn't a great area either. We did it more out of necessity than anything else. Rapidly rising crime, and very poor economy. We moved to Columbus, Ohio trying to better ourselves and stay somewhat close to family in WV. Before anyone says anything, I did my research. A lot of these sites don't tell you everything, and at times the data isn't completely accurate. On paper Columbus looked great, but it's not. We made a horrible mistake. First of all the economy is now worse off here as well. I give them that though. Just about everywhere is bad right now, so can't hold that against them. We knew traffic would be bad, but bad doesn't describe it. Columbus is an aging city that has not kept up with growth. The people generally aren't friendly. Something that shocked me considering where in the "wholesome" midwest. Your neighbors could care less about you. Crime is getting so out of hand.

I would say Ohio is family friendly and some what people friendly, the quality of life over all I would say i'm happy.
Now keep in mind just like with most things you take the good with the bad. Now Ohio is a good place to be but, I can't really rate it against anything else, this is the only state I have ever lived

Columbus is a great place to raise a family, dine out, see a play or dance theater performance. Overall the cost of living is pretty good. The only thing I do not like is the winters. The winters are not that bad compared to other wintry towns, I am just more of a sand and surf
