Albany, New York's State Capital, offers an excellent quality of life. Excellent institutions of learning in close proximity (RPI, Union, Russell Sage, Albany School of Pharmacy, Albany Medical Center, SUNY and many more), safe neighborhoods, cultural events, and a slower-paced living environment. Great place to raise kids. City provides many arts and entertainment events for free. The only downside is that New York has the highest tax rate in the U.S. Cost of living rising rapidly. If you're going to by real estate, do it now.
