How Are Home Prices Doing?

I have an opportunity to invest in rentals in Albany. I'd appreciate any thoughts on the pros and cons of this. Most interestedin the current rents for 1br or 2br apartments, along with the appreciation rate for multi-unit properties. I know the last few years aren't a good indicator, so I'm more interested in how prices have appreciated this year and prospects for the next few years. How is the job market? How is the local economy?
