Our piece of the earth

My husband & I live outside of Bainbridge, Ohio & love the area with the rolling hills. Quite honestly, we cannot image living anyway else. Our lovely rural home was broke into last October and absolutely nothing was done about it. We called the Ross County police department and a deputy cane out & file the ususal report. He was very nice & understanding, but did state that he would be retiring in a month so his thought appeared elsewhere. Items stolen were medications, all my watches, rings and other fine jewelry. Even a nice plant was taken from off our front deck! As it turned out, a flashlight was left behind by the criminals(if it was not for the circumstances, this was almost funny), which was taken in for prints. I called the police station 2 weeks later to find out the results and was told there were no results back yet & that I would be notified either way. To this date, I have heard nothing. I realize not every home or buisness break-in will be solved, but it is apparent that not much is being done. And for those of us that have fallen victim to this, there is no follow-up with us about the investigation. Since last October, other nice homes & area businesses have met the same fate. No one is arrested, or if an arrect is made, they get back out and again in the ares - free to continue this lifestyle. I have attended some of the 'Neighborhood Watch' meetings, but I hear the same things & it does not improve nor reduce these crimes. I know I am just 1 person, but many, many home owners & merchants agree with me & are truly in fear that they will be next.
