I am not sure who the person is that wrote Barry is the worst small town in Illinois. I have lived in Barry for most of my life and I have never heard of kids being beat up by Pittsfield kids. We do not have Barry Police anymore we have the Pike County Sheriffs Department that comes through Barry. I believe that tobacco/alcohol issue is an issue in any town. I do believe the Sheriff's Department is doing a better job controlling the issue. I love living in Barry I can walk with my children to the park without any fear of getting beat up. Barry has made great improvements over the years. The park has a great play area for children and the town is now putting in lights to light up the park at night. We are also opening a YMCA August 2012. Barry has a great Grocery store called Stroemer Foods the owner try's to keep things fresh by offering great new products. We have two great restaurants The Barry Cafe and The Cree Mee. I defiantly would say Barry is a small town that is safe and has friendly caring people. I will say every town has those one or two people we really don't want to claim but who doesn't! For the most part, Barry is a small town that has a great community of people. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. For the person who wrote the last bit about Barry maybe you should find a place you would like to call home.
