Review of Bend, Oregon

Over done Greedy people place!
Star Rating - 2/2/2016
I have lived here since 08, yeah not a good time to relocate but had to get Parents closer to better Medical facilities. This place isn't what you read in the Brochures or from realtors. The temps last summer were over a 100 degrees for several days, 96 is like the real summer temps, winter cold and dreary unless you can get up on Mt. Bachelor.

The downtown is ridiculous packed with tourist and no place to park, for example there is a open lot Downtown at the end of Bond Street, it is a ball park but mostly bare, now they want to turn a green space into a large hotel, more greedy people, and tourists. Like others have mentioned the trendy ppl have their noses up in the air thinking they are better than those workers who have lived here many years. I have a business and can't wait to sell my home and get out of here.

I lived in Bend in 91 for a year and had a blast riding my bike and fishing, now be prepared for a over sold over "Californized"Just like we all said would happen. It used to be a good place to be, now all the traffic, construction and wealthy trendy people live here. Housing is thrown up cheaply and overpriced and packed in like sardines, well except those privileged wealthy.

"Californized" is where People who move here want all the amenities that they had in California, so we now have very expensive golf courses, Trendy stores, and the same old money game.

If you think you found a great place, then think again, I'm headed back to Colorado. I'm tired of paying high taxes on my home, the same home in colorado is about 1/3rd the taxes. As a homeowner your paying taxes for all those who rent and can't own a home. Sales tax would fix that! I'm not a consumer, so let the consumer pay taxes.

I really gave some thought at one time about moving out there as I currently live outside Portland and I grew up in Vancouver,Wa and trust me it used to be an absolutely fantastic place to live and raise a family but anymore? You have to be kidding!Homes way over priced and a rental?Again, are you at least partially wealthy?A studio apartment that you have to share a laundry room with others is going for almost $800 a month! The traffic and crime is just not worth the hassle anymore.I just want to live in small town America and live simple.

Thank you for telling the real story. Same thing in Ketchum, ID, they dont know when to stop building and families here do not know when to stop breeding. Putting a small town on best places to live is always a kiss of death, ala Sandpoint, ID
