A Day in the Life at Boise/Nampa.

I am pondering on relocating my family to the Boise/Nampa area. We are outdoor enthusiast and enjoy nature at its best. After doing some research about the southwestern Idaho, it appears to offer such much, and yet ideally located between many major metro areas in all directions. For the Idahoans, can you provide us with some ideas, pros/cons, best kept secret, etc. about this location? What makes this place rise above all else?
