Review of Bridgeport, Ohio

Quality of Bridgeport, OH
Star Rating - 8/8/2008
Quality of this area is "Oddly poor". For a few key reasons this are is held back and none of them are good.
For one the cost of a living here is the cheapest in the area hence you have the poorest people living in this
town. Funny thing is just 1/4 mile up from where i live is the next town it's like the city of gold comparably.
Again for no reason. Both areas don't have anything to do that the other doesn't have. You really don't need
much in this area because its right on the river from Wheeling, WV that cost a lot more to live in just cause of
state taxes. Another point is the fact you have less than stellar quality of people managing the water for the area. I have already had to go trough two water main breaks (the same break spot twice) this year and once last year.as far as stuff to do most of it is in Wheeling which is a literal stones throw away. The WV side is booming and the ohio side is dying. For instance "Highlands" area was just Cabella's for years and now there is a plan to have like 30+ stores in it with like 10 already built and going and some of the stores are like JCPenney's that was in our mall but now there. Now stuff to do is easy in the area with WV side booming pretty much 15 min from anything.
Just a 2 min drive to the island you have a casino. travel on across the river into downtown wheeling
you have a minor league hockey team "The Nailers" called so because of wheelings claim to fame really being their
history of nail production. Also in the same place during the summer/fall is a minor league arena football team though not so good. You can drive 1 1/2 hrs to Pittsburgh which is a great city if you ask me and all the
professional teams they have. This whole area use to be referred to as "Little Pittsburgh" (LONG TIME AGO). But
its gone to the dogs. There is a lot more drug use and prostitution in the area than should be for this size area.
There is festivals galore on the river all summer long there is a small ski resort at Oglebay. I can honestly say that of all the areas I've lived (14 places in 4 states) this area has the most unrealized potential I've ever seen. All this area needs is a smart business person with a good bit of money to get the right people in here and I know that this
area can be as good if not better than it ever was.
