Review of Burlington Massachuse,

Love New England
Star Rating - 1/21/2014
I've lived in New England for my whole life. Obviously I don't have much to compare it to, but I will tell you why I like it. The Spring and Fall are amazing. The weather is cool and crisp. The scenery is gorgeous. You've got to be OK with snow to live here. I really don't mind it. Most of the time it's also stunningly beautiful. It's a hassle to shovel and by the end of February, I'm glad to see it go. But it makes spring all the more welcome. What I dislike about Boston are the hot and humid summers. They are much more miserable than winter for me.

Thankfully I've not seen much crime. We had our car stolen once and we've had our car broken into once. But, we are also suburbanites, I'm sure there is more crime in Boston proper.

There are amazing hospitals here associated with prestigious universities. That is comforting. I think our public education system is really good. I am a teacher and the steps I had to take to secure a job as an elementary teacher were intense. The teaching standards are high and constant professional development is required. It contributes a lot to having well educated kids.

I'm a homebody, but it's sometimes fun to go into town and see a great theater production and eat a delicious meal. We're only 20 minutes from downtown.

Lastly, I am an animal lover and I have been heart sick when traveling to other parts of the country to see the high homeless pet population. People here are mostly very good about spaying and neutering. There are tons of pet owners, great adoption agencies and pet amenities like dog parks and pet supply stores.
