I have lived in Bushnell, Sumter County, Florida, for over 40 years. The City of Bushnell had a population of 644 people when I first moved there, and the population in 2008 is approximately 2200 people. Sumter County had a population of about 10000 people when I first moved there and in 2008, the population is over 75000 people.
Bushnell has always had a very low crime rate and over the last 40 plus years, the crime rate has not increased. It is a small county seat city that is basically free of crime and a good place to raise a family. Its about 60 miles north of Tampa, FL and 60 miles west of Orlando, FL. Since I-75 runs thru the county its becoming a bedroom community for Tampa, Ocala and Orlando. Come visit, you will like what your find.
