Run down, dirty, hot and windy.

I've only been here for a few months, but I can quickly sum up this town as a rundown truck stop, perpetually buffeted by relentless wind, dirt, and hot air. The gas stations overflow with oil workers buying alcohol and junk food. During the week, the population swells dramatically; with only 30,000 permanent residents, it balloons to 80,000 as these temporary 50,000 workers flood in. Unfortunately, driving skills seem optional, and everyone pilots oversized trucks.
The Pecos River offers a pleasant respite.
New construction is uniformly shoddy; it appears this is a trend nationwide, lacking any pride in craftsmanship.
Overall, the town feels run-down, dusty, oppressively hot, and constantly wind-battered.
