An Ordinary Life with Potential

In this comment area, I am mainly speaking about Centerton/Bentonville/Rogers area of Northwest Arkansas. Here, life is decent. The climate is humid but tolerable, with a few weather extremes now and then. Because this area is the home of Walmart, Walmart is a giant presence here and new businesses are moving in every day because of it. The people from Mexico and India make the area more colorful and interesting, in my opinion. The police are good street sweepers and keep the area "cleaned up", so it has low crime. Jobs are available, but the wages for the uneducated can be low and the hours they work are long. But that is not too different from anywhere, right? Regarding health, a lot of people are too heavy, and there are still quite a number of smokers in the area in spite of the common knowledge regarding the health problems associated with cigarettes. Fast food is the norm for lunch, with long lines for "sweet tea", "blasts," and giant sodas. The teenagers are rather bored, and get into the trouble that teenagers do, because there needs to be more hands-on community activities for teens to get involved in. Shopping is good, and there are a variety of stores and thrift stores. There are plenty of churches in this Bible Belt, but not very many Jewish people or black people. For hunting and fishing, Beaver Lake and other lakes are not too far away if you can afford to get there, and you've got all the gear. If you want a decent life, and you are not too spoiled from living in other places, you might like it here. This is ordinary, with potential. And who knows? You just might find you have some relatives tucked back in the hills that you didn't know about.
