Review of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania

Quality of Life
Star Rating - 12/7/2005
Twenty years ago we lived in Chambersburg and we loved the area. Job opportunities motivated us to move to the state of Washington. Last summer, we returned to central Pennsylvania to visit family. I was struck by the deterioration of the basic infrastructure- roads, bridges, buildings were in various stages of disrepair. We could not believe the traffic in places like Shippensburg and Chambersburg. The population is increasing, developments are mushrooming, but the roads remain secondary and as they were 50 years ago. Because of this, we confronted traffic jams just about anywhere we went in the area. Although we have thought of returning when we retire, we now have serious second thoughts. Although taxes are a bit higher in the Seattle area, they serve to improve the infrastructure and the quality of life.
