Chandler is, overall, a great place to live. Unfortunately, the Phoenix metro area, in general, has grown very quickly,and the state has done very little to accomodate that growth. They've just let it happen. As a result traffic is horrendous in the metro area. Chandler itself is not too bad, but most people can't spend all their time in Chandler.
Don't let the summer scare you. If you don't mind a little heat it is certainly no worse than the Midwest's high temps and high humidity.
