Review of Colonial Beach, Virginia

Best Kept Secret in Virginia!
Star Rating - 10/19/2017
Colonial Beach is a small beach town in Westmoreland County. It was a thriving resort town in the early 1900s with Steamboats bringing visitors down from Washington DC every weekend during the summer. It was a thriving gambling town with casinos built over the river, enabling slots under Maryland State law until the mid 1900s. Today, it is a diverse and eclectic town where it is safe for kids to ride bikes and adults to drive golf carts from one end of town to the other. There are great restaurants, marinas, fishing, crabbing. Our residents enjoy living in a quiet quaint town during the week and over the winter. Our visitors pack the beaches every weekend during the summer. We are the gateway to the historic Northern Neck, bordered by the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers, and featuring the Birthplaces of Washington, Monroe, and Madison, as well as Stratford Hall, Westmoreland State Park, and multiple vineyards and berry farms. Our many festivals are family friendly include the Easter Egg Hunt, Father's Day Classic Car Show, Potomac River Fest, Bike Fest, Water Fest, Rockfish Tournaments, Fall Festival, & Winter Festival. We have the BEST Fireworks display in the area! A variety of live musicians play at multiple venues every weekend.
