Review of Columbia, South Carolina

Charming “hometown” city
Star Rating - 7/20/2021
Columbia is such a unique and underrated place. It has a lot of character and history, and good nature trails. Everything feels accessible (by car) and you can get from one side of the city to another relatively quickly. The food options may be somewhat limited, but they are solid and you won’t feel overwhelmed with choices. Quick road trip from the city and you can be in the mountains or at the beach in less than 2 hours. Traffic isn’t bad at all, the cost of living is still somewhat low, and the cost of homes/property is still relatively affordable. Depending on your career, you may not be able to max out on earning potential but your dollar will go farther here. People are very nice. The city is very small and has a hometown feel, so your friends and creativity will make or break it for you because it is easy to get bored. The weather is nice year round if you don’t like the cold, but it does get very hot and there are always new businesses popping up. This probably isn’t the place for you if you want to live the city life, but definitely somewhere to consider if you like a more laid back pace and potentially want to buy a home or settle down.
