columbus does not stand out but...

Columbus never stands out on "great towns to live in" lists, but big univeresities mixed with state governement usually equal low unemployment & an educated work force. That all adds up to a good quality of life.
Excellent freeways. Crime not a big issue. Weather: typical mix of anything goes. Good shopping, schools, restaurants. Airport is decent. Not much missing that the average person would look for in quality of life.
Two funny things: people drive faster when roads are bad. The notion I am told is "if you drive faster on bad roads, you're on them less time." LOL
Second: it's the rubbernecking capital of America. Entire freeways will slow down for people to stare at some poor schmuck changing a tire. A big wreck will freeze roads up for longer than necessary, even if it's pulled over to the side & traffic can go around.
