Review of Columbus, Ohio

The Pros and Cons
Star Rating - 4/28/2009
First off I have not lived in Ohio all my life (like most people in the state of Ohio ) - and I don't mean that in a negative/positive way. Just stating a fact. So here are my pros and cons:

Pros:
Relatively safe, fairly clean, only city in Ohio that is growing, large university (OSU), very light traffic (compared to most cities)

Cons:
People are not as friendly as the South (where I grew up); the obsession with OSU football can be annoying; from my experience it seems as though people are more interested in talking about football than politics, the environment, etc; population is not very active ; city is not great for those who want to walk/bike everywhere; dining is okay - seems as though most prefer chain restaraunts (although there are some great non chain restaraunts); scenery is not great - no mountains, no ocean; seems as though most people have very similar worldviews - I grew up in an area where my worldview was challenged and I appreciated that (really what this means is that most people are Republicans which isn't exactly a con- just I enjoyed living on the East coast where the was a better mix of beliefs and where I could really be challenged on what I believed)

If you like high taxes, racially biased government leaders, poor schools, being threatened by union thugs when voting, you;ll love this city
