Columbus, the STAR fo the state!!!

I grew up in Worthington, a suburb north of Columbus. I have lived in Washington D.C., Atlanta GA, Boston MA, NYC NY, and Chicago IL and to date, there is no place like home. Columbus may not be the most educated, creative, or free thinking place in the country but I have never met such nice, good hearted, neighborly people in my entire life! The community as a whole pulls together and there is definitely a strong sense of civic pride. The community support the arts and has one of the best library networks in the US. The zoo is top notch and the shopping is on par with a city 3 times its size. I am amazed every time I visit by how much new growth and redevelopment there is. The key to the growth is that it is not tacky or cheap looking like much of the growth in the southeastern US. Not a lot of billboards or strip centers with baptist churches in them. I know that the people take the time to get to know one another and do not pass judgement on others like they do in several of the other areas I have lived in. My job takes me all over the country but my next move will hopefully be back to Columbus, not for career advancement but for a lifestyle advancement. I can always travel to NYC, Chicago, or London. I only hope that one day I can return to my fair city and once again reside amongst the mighty buckeyes!
