The area is often described as,"not that bad". Probably a true statement as true as,"not that good either." Affordable housing, descent job market(blue collar), good quality schools ( k-12 and college) but nothing to do. If you can make the 2.5 hour drive to Chicago on the weekends you will be happy. The only reason I would relocate there if it was with John Deere, otherwise consider somewhere else.
