Crime is very low in Destrehan compared to the entire Saint Charles Parish. Statistics are only available for the parishes. See the 2000 statistics below. Orleans Parish has more than 15 times the crime rate of Saint Charles Parish. I've lived in Destrehan for two years and never had any problems with crime in my neighborhood. Also, our sheriff, Greg Champagne, has made arrests on over 95% of the crimes that occurred in the parish.
