Rain, anyone?

Overall, not a real bad place, but, like nearby Seattle, you will get more than average rainfall every year. It is yet another example of "give and take". In California, they get "luxury" (sunshine) tax and pay thru the nose for everything. Since we see fewer days of sun, the cost of living here is cheaper. It's also cheaper in the Southeast, if you can stand the very high humidity (i.e Georgia, South Carolina, etc.). The wages are lower, too. Sure, there's scenic beauty here - but it comes at a price of many days of rain. Seattle is the heroin/suicide capitol of the world - the weather is mostly to blame (although the grunge rock is cool). While the summers are nice here, the rest of the time sucks. May thru Semptember is o.k. Truth be told, I'd give anything to be able to afford to move to Southern California, in between L.A. and San Diego. I'm originally from Cali and would love to retire there.
