My thoughts of Fort Myers

I have lived her for 12 years. I moved here from New England. Like any other tropical place it is absolutely beautiful. We have Sanibel close by, beaches are close, many restaurants. We have the beautiful mangroves and palm trees. We can go kayaking, canoeing, jet skiing, and boating year round. There’s many little islands that you can visit. Those all the beautiful things about Fort Myers. In my opinion the downside is there is no culture. Racism still exist which I never knew until I moved here. I am Caucasian and a New Englander and never heard the things that I have heard until I moved here. Plain ignorance. I will never get used to seeing confederate flags in the back of trucks. Redneck trucks. If you’re moving here to find a job unless you have one lined up in writing do not waste your time coming here for a job. They’re few and far between and they pay much lower than most of the country. The saying here is “it is what it is” and that pretty much applies to almost everything. I am athletic I love hiking and biking and many other outdoor activities. Perfect place for tennis and yes I play tennis. If you plan on hiking on flatland that’s not gonna work. Biking you’re very lucky if you make it without getting hit by a car and that goes for running as well. There are hardly no sidewalks. So to sum it up. The view is beautiful with very clean streets. But like I said many of the people are still living their lives as if it were 40 years ago. So if you’re coming for your beauty come on here it’s beautiful. If you come in for culture and education. I wouldn’t bother you’ll be quite disappointed. Just my opinion. Because of this my husband and I are looking to reside in another location.
