Galesburg - Pros/Cons

Pros:
1. Low crime rate
2. Good school system
3. Extremely low cost of living and housing
4. Affordable place to live
5. A good place to live and raise a family

Cons:
1. Not much to do
2. Hearing the trains blow their horns every half-hour
3. Finding a job in Galesburg is not easy

I wonder after all these years if you still live there? Is the crime rate and cost of living still relatively low? I’m thinking of relocating there from Iowa. I want to bring my children somewhere safe while allowing myself to be closer to family. Chicago is a no no. Thank You

Yes after 5 factories left Galesburg in the 70's middle income to high income jobs were SORELY LOST!!! Have to be a nurse, doctor or attorney to live really well. We lived in the area since 1700's.
