I was born here and when I had my children I came back to be close to my parents. My youngest is about to graduate from high school and I would like to leave when she does.
To be fair- the cost of living is low in this area of the country, the schools are top rated for the south and the community is very self contained in terms of exercise facilities, shopping and theater.
