Review of Gurnee, Illinois

Run. Run as fast and as far away as possible.

We moved here four years ago from Evanston, IL and I have to say it's been the worst experience of my life. The people here are closed minded, rude, homophobic, racist. There are no sidewalks! No sidewalks! What kind of a town doesn't have sidewalks? It's outrageous. If you don't have a car, you're screwed. The PACE buses are always late. The military base is close in North Chicago, so on the Metra, the navy guys are really rude and gawk at you and make vulgar comments. The upside is the library. The library is fantastic and probably one of the best libraries I've seen, ever. Warren Newport Library has dozens upon dozens of activities and contests that make it a little better to live here.

I lived in Evanston, and agreed on the fact it's a nice area. However, I have lived in Gurnee, IL for 6, and my neighbors are absolutely friendly. As many, I use METRA to go to work. I have never been at the library. Thus, I believe the library located not far from the Rockville Metro Station in MD, is by far one of the finest. Mall, and other big retailers are a mile ration. The city is diverse, and crime rate is minimum and as low as any other suburbs outside Chicago. I have noticed the affluence of new families from all ethnics moving in. Schools programs are good, the community college is a fine place to advance your secular studies, and health facilities are top in the sector.
