I have lived in Indianapolis for 13 years now and feel the weather is perfect for those seeking 4 seasons. We are on a dividing line between extreme cold (to the north) and warm and moist (to the south). Winter days average in the 40's and summers are in the 80's. Any extreme weather (hot or cold) lasts only a day or two. The best time of year is Fall. Warm, dry days and cool nights. 70's up through the end of October. Any snowfall is quickly removed from the streets and melts within a few days. We average maybe 1 or 2 "big" snowfalls a year (over 3 inches) and sometimes no large snowfalls at all. Within days you can expect it to be melted and back to normal temperaturs. I have lived in the Midwest all of my life (currently 38) and can recall only 2 "blizzard" like conditions. The Blizzard of 1978, which hit the entire midwest with a vengeance, and a 12" snowfall back in 1999. On average, I'd say blizzards are rare and hit the area about once every 25 years. If you like the seasons, this place is for you. Very green throughout much of the year also.
