I believe the public education system here in Irvington is not up to par. Some think it is okay, as long as you kid is enrolled in K thru 5. I chose not to gamble with my kids' education. So my 1st and 2nd graders go to private school. Also there is only 1 charter school. It is sort of new. I haven't heard anything spectacular about it. Property taxes are sky high....so why can't my kid get a good education for free?!
People just don't care about kid's education in the urban area.
