Review of Las Cruces, New Mexico

THE QUALITY OF LIFE HAS BEEN DESTROYED
Star Rating - 12/5/2006
At one time Las Cruces was a beautiful city and a wonderful place to live. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. This city has gotten in over it's head when it comes to growth. There are developments going up all over the desert. They are destroying the lay of the land by blocking arroyos and other natural run-off areas. As a result homes are being flooded in areas where floods were never a problem. The desert was a beautiful place enjoyed by everyone. Now you can hardly take a walk without coming up on a development. The houses are going up right to the base of our majestic Organ Mountains. Even the beauty of our sunsets has been compromised. A red sunset is rare these days. Our sunsets are now mostly orange which is an indication that the air is not as clean as it used to be. The homes that are being built are out of reach of Las Crucens. Our school system is terrible. I could go on and on, but it depresses me to think of what has happened to my once beautiful city. (All this destruction has happened in only the last 5 years or so)

It's not all that bad I do agree with not building near the Organs and the flood prone arroyos. You need to move to Phoenix then complain about development. New city councilors being elected are all for smart growth so it's getting better.
