Review of Logan, West Virginia

Life In Logan
Star Rating - 11/14/2010
Logan, WV, gets a very bad rap as far as I'm concerned. Yes, we have problems, like most other places do, however I have had lots of opportunities go live elsewhere and I choose to stay in my hometown. You will not find friendlier people anywhere, period! Our radio station and local paper do a great job of keeping people informed of what is going on in our communities. There are lots of churches in the area great places to eat (Morrison's Drive In, Fat Jack's, A Taste Of Home Diner, Parkway, Janet's, 317 The Steakhouse, etc). Route 119 has made travel to Charleston and to Pikeville very easy. There are lots of good, locally owned businesses too, including SAKS Jewelers, Antique Junkshun, McCormicks and more. Overall life is good in Logan IF the E.P.A. will continue to allow us to mine coal!

I loved you review and I think you are right on target. My family and I are looking to possibly relocate and had a question. What type of mining is done in and around Logan? Is it seam mining, strip mining or mountain top removal? I ask only because research has shown that some types of mining can have an adverse affect on the local water quality, and I want to be conscious of that when we move.
