Louisville Has Potential, but Not Worth the Move

I moved to Louisville five years ago. Of the places I have lived in Kentucky, Louisville is by far the nicest. Not as racially inbalanced as Lexington, not as snotty as the rural communities; this town has a lot going for it. The Highlands is a wonderful place to spend a nice evening; there are theatres and playhouses; there's baseball, plenty of college sports. But the job market is disgusting. The majority of jobs available could not sustain a family. The downtown area needs major work to become any type of entertainment factor. Taxes in Louisville (and Kentucky in general)are deplorable. There's no such thing as a middle class: there are the very rich and the very poor. Those who work hardest to make ends meet are taxed the hardest.
Though the majority of people I've met here are very nice and helpful, it's just not enough to make up for poor business/job prospects, little neighborhood pride, and little effort put into growth.
The mayor is a wonderful person, who I would love to see run for Govenor, but he's got very little to work with. Visit Louisville, but live somewhere else.
